USA: UMD campaign against White privilege - here we go again......
The University of Minnesota Dullah (UMD) has decided to partner in the UnFair Campaign. And just what is this UnFair Campaign all about? Well, let's see if I can sum it up so that you can understand it in simple terms, seeing as our liberal friends think that we're just dumb conservative hicks who can only look at pictures. The UnFair Campaign seeks to raise awareness about White privilege in the community and to change the system so that there is racial justice. Cool hey? Where can I donate?? I mean, it's just crazy that Whites feel any sense of pride in their achievements. Let's rather celebrate the greatness of the African Americans and other minorities. After all, it was their minds which created the great country of America. Whites should feel ashamed for wanting so much out of life and working for it. No, far better is to feel disgust at our skin color and IQ and try to behave more like Blacks. Because, apparently when Whites eventually feel really shit about themselves, then only can America rise once more to be the great country it was years gone by - before White privilege was invented. Thank you UMD for making us realise our fallacy. Thank you UMD for pointing out to us that White privilege is all too common and is to be rejected. Thank you UMD for bringing Whites down in this world, so that we can assume our rightful place next to those high achieving Blacks who we have failed to notice. You only have to look at cities like Detroit, Birmingham and Cleveland to see the beautiful metropolises and fine citizens Black majority cities produce. Maybe UMD can help me remember the name of a successful Black-built city as there must be many examples out there which have slipped my mind. But yes, we can use these wonderful Black-run cities as true examples of the greatness of this race, so that we can know how unjust we have treated them and how we have failed to recognise their true abilities. Oh great UMD thank you for pointing out that we live in a sea of Whiteness. Our White privilege is abhorrent and I reject it in full. I will support all the actions you call for so that we can rid our society of this evil race. We will one day all live together in Black Utopia, and use cities like Detroit as our blueprint for our future. Thank you UMD, thank you. Please people, donate to this great cause. Now someone, please bring me my White privilege barf bag.
UMD has joined with 14 Duluth community organizations as a partner in the UnFair Campaign, a major anti-racism effort focusing on the role white people can play in addressing racial disparities. The UnFair Campaign seeks to raise awareness about white privilege in the community, provide resources for understanding and action, and facilitate dialogue and partnership that result in fundamental, systemic change towards racial justice.
Developed in Duluth, the UnFair Campaign was launched at a news conference in Duluth City Hall. UMD Chancellor Lendley C. Black participated in the news conference, along with Mayor Don Ness and representatives of other campaign partner organizations.
With the tagline “It's hard to see racism when you're white,” the campaign will attempt to heighten attention to white privilege and encourage dialogue through posters, billboards, the campaign’s website, public workshops, guest speakers, community reads, films, and facilitated discussions.
"The UnFair Campaign’s goals are fundamental to the change we are working to achieve at UMD," said Chancellor Black. "Our Strategic Plan provides the framework for realizing a learning and working environment that reflects the values of equity, diversity, and social justice. The first step is recognizing that racism and inequality exist."

UMD is sponsoring activities on campus. Tim Wise, author of Dear White America: Letter to a New Minority, White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son, and other books, will be on our campus on February 16 for a lecture at 6:00 p.m., in the Kirby Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public and all are encouraged to participate. Also during that day, Wise will interact with students, faculty and staff at a series of group conversations.
Another opportunity to participate is to attend the film series that kicks off on Monday, January 30, with Mirrors of Privilege, Making Whiteness Visible. The film will be shown from noon-1:30 p.m., in the Griggs Center. Other films will be shown throughout Spring Semester. For a complete listing and for other events both on and off campus, visit: http://unfaircampaign.org. For more information about UMD's Campus Climate initiatives, see: http://www.d.umn.edu/chancellor/climate/.
The UnFair Campaign raises issues about how hard it is to see racism when one is not subjected to daily acts of discrimination and intolerance. The 14 Duluth community organizations understand that problems are ingrained in the fabric of our society, and advancing equity, diversity, and social justice requires persistence and long-term work.
"I am committed to stay the course and work with students, faculty, staff, and the community until we reach our goals," said Chancellor Black. "I look forward to participating with in the UnFair Campaign’s activities, both on and off campus."

ReplyDeleteYou gotta give it to the liberals. They have managed to turn positives into something to be ashamed about. How low must their self-esteem be??
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Great White sharks have White-shark privilege?
ReplyDeletethe arrogance and ignorance of u makes me sick. u clearly have no understanding of what white priv is or u would never speak like u do. when ur out in public n a white person (for no reason) looks at u or speaks angrily to u, u prob think that they must b having a bad day, right?....well, if that happens to a black or brown or native american person, they wonder if the person is racist, not if they r having a bad day. that my friends is an example of white priv that comes along with being white. u dont have to think about race on a daily n ongoing basis...maybe once in a while, but not constantly. blacks dont have that niceness of "not having to think about it'' and thats just the tip of the iceberg, just a tiny example. maybe that was a poor example bc it really doesnt even scratch the surface of the priv whites have that blacks do not, n im not speaking in terms of economics or money. its not about black ppl taking over, its about them getting on an equal level. y should they have to look n dress european in order to b taken seriously by whites, why cant they express their african heritage without repercussions? btw....i am white and i have taken the time to understand white priv so why cant u?
ReplyDelete@Anon 10:35 - your intelligence just shines through. I hope your parents didn't spend a lot on your education. Go back to your room and flog yourself for being white. Idiot.
