2 Riverside County cities vote to support Arizona's anti-illegal immigration law

I'm pretty sure that if 70% of Arizonans support the new immigration law, then the figure for the whole of America should be in this vicinity as well. It's only the Liberal Left and the illegal immigrants themselves who are trying to con the people into believing the rest of the USA is opposed to the bill. More and more states and councils are starting to back Arizona. Should be interesting to see who becomes of the lawsuit from the Federal Government against one of their own...

The city councils of Hemet and Lake Elsinore, both in Riverside County, approved proclamations Tuesday in support of Arizona’s controversial anti-illegal immigration law.

The Yorba Linda City Council in Orange County approved a similar resolution earlier this month, countering actions taken by leaders in cities such as Los Angeles, who voted to boycott doing business with Arizona companies in protest of the law.

The law tells police officers to check the immigration status of people they have stopped for another reason and reasonably suspect are in the U.S. illegally.

The Hemet City Council unanimously approved the measure, proposed by Mayor Eric McBride. Dozens of residents testified throughout the evening, with supporters praising the council for taking a stand against illegal immigration and for the rule of law, and opponents accusing the council of fostering racial profiling and discrimination. Residents on both sides criticized the White House and Congress for failing to address the issue.

“It may not be perfect, I’m sure it’s not,” Councilman Robert Youssef said of the Arizona law. “But it’s a step in the right direction.”

In Lake Elsinore, a 28-mile drive west of Hemet on Highway 74, a similar scene played out before that city’s council, which approved a resolution in favor of the Arizona law 4 to 1.

“It doesn’t have to do with your nationality or where you come from. It has to do if you’re here legally or not,” said Mayor Melissa A. Melendez.

Melendez, who said she has relatives of Mexican and Peruvian descent, also criticized illegal immigrants for disregarding the nation’s laws and flaunting their allegiance to Mexico.

“Don’t come into my country wearing a Mexican flag. It’s insulting,” she said.

Australia: Rugby league referees need lesson in culture

So, because some Islander boys don't know how to "control" their emotions, the Caucasion referees need to take culture lessons? Yeah, that makes sense. Hey - how about the Islander boys learn how to act in polite society? Or, better yet, go back to your Polynesian Islands and play amongst yourselves. Maybe its time to introduce a White league and an "Other" league and each gets their own referees from their race seeing as we don't "understand" them and they "don't have respect" for the Whiteys. Just a thought...

RUGBY league referees should take compulsory culture lessons to learn how to deal with Polynesian and Lebanese footy players.

Pacific islanders have been blamed by some refs for an increase in junior footy violence.

But Sydney Samoan Council representative Richard David, a former Western Suburbs district player, said caucasian referees did not know how to handle other cultural groups.

"When they walk out on to the pitch some of them don't realise that comments they make to the players could be hurtful to them," Mr David said.

"They also don't realise some of the islander boys don't have respect for them from kick-off and that sometimes manifests in violence."

Mr David said it was difficult for some islanders to control their emotions: "The Polynesian instinct is very different to a European's. Our nature is not to speak and talk through our feelings, it's about the physical emotion and sometimes that can manifest in different ways.

"I think it's unfair to pinpoint the Pacific Islander community but I admit there is a problem when it comes to communication."

Parramatta Referees Association president and NRL referee Alan Shortall said he was holding talks with Parramatta district junior rugby league president Terry Rose and Parramatta seniors boss Paul Osborne after previously threatening strike action.

"Our members have been the victims of a number of serious and unsavoury incidents," he said.

"Any incident that impacts on the recruitment will place in jeopardy the ability to provide competent and confident referees whose aim is to ensure the safe participation for all concerned."

Mr Shortall said he was hopeful that the ARL and Parramatta district would implement fresh measures to limit the number of assaults on his referees.

Germany: Man threatens vuvu blowers with axe

I'm with you on this one! Show me the axe.

Berlin - An American in Bavaria got so fed up with the droning from his neighbours' vuvuzela that he threatened to kill them with an axe.

Police in Bavaria said yesterday the 45-year-old man confronted his neighbours during Thursday's Netherlands-Cameroon World Cup game, wielding the axe.

He screamed: "I will kill you," then returned home.

The man was arrested and may be charged.

When Idiots Join Hands

Like that famous saying goes: "don't let a crisis go to waste", Obama has seized on the Gulf tragedy to push his new Socialist Cap 'n Trade tax. Hands up the dumb-dumbs who believe this is a good tax and that the Government means well? No one? Yeah, thought so.

After the June 23 Cabinet meeting, President Obama said:

“We talked about energy. In the context of the oil spill, as I said last week during my Oval Office address, this has to be a wakeup call to the country that we are prepared and ready to move forward on a new energy strategy that the American people desperately want but for which there has been insufficient political will.”

“It is time for us to move to a clean energy future.”

First, let it be said that the American people do not desperately want “a new energy strategy.” They did not want Obamacare. They do not want Cap-and-Trade. They do not want amnesty for an estimated ten to twenty million illegal aliens.

Along with the totally discredited global warming hoax, this has got to be the biggest lie Obama keeps repeating, along with promises of thousands of “green jobs.”

What is Clean Energy?
Obama is referring to solar and wind energy. Neither of these enterprises would last longer than an episode of “So You Think You Can Dance” were it not for the billions of taxpayer’s dollars provided as subsidies to producers who, once the subsidies end, will abandon these most useless of all ways to generate electricity.

When the government mandates that part of the electricity you purchase must be supplied by wind or solar, they are forcing utilities to invest in means of generation that must always be backed up by coal-fired, natural gas, hydroelectric, or nuclear plants. Neither wind, nor solar can be depended upon to produce sufficient electricity, particularly during times of peak uses.

When you see those windmills turning even when there is no wind, there is a plant somewhere providing them with electricity because, unless they constantly turn, their mechanisms famously break down. Solar farms are even less efficient, particularly since the sun does not shine all the time and cloud cover often reduces their capacity.

This, however, will not deter the hoped-for thousands of people who will turn out on Saturday, June 26, to participate in some 700 events across the nation and, we’re told, worldwide in a mega-event called “Hands Across the Sand.” It is intended to encourage more “clean energy.”

“This simple, but powerful human expression of unity will send a clear message to our leaders that more offshore drilling is not the answer and now is the time to create our clean energy future,” said event founder, David Rauschkolb, described as a restaurant owner in Seaside, Florida.

That’s who we want making energy policy, a restaurant owner!

Among the sponsors of the event are Audubon, the Alaska Wilderness League, the Center for Biological Diversity, Clean Water Action, Defenders of Wildlife, Earth Day Network, Endangered Species Coalition, Energy Action Coalition, Environment America, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, MoveOn.org, Ocean Conservancy, Rainforest Action Network, and the Sierra Club.

In other words, the most mendacious environmental groups, all devoted to impeding the development and access to the huge quantities of energy needed to maintain industry, agriculture, and an economy that, despite their constant interference and obstruction, is still the world’s leader in value of goods produced.

To them, the Gulf oil spill is the best thing that ever happened. One well out of hundreds in the Gulf of Mexico has suffered a horrible failure, but these are the people who want to shut down all of them despite a fifty-year history of safety.

No doubt the mainstream media will have a field day showing us coverage of countless idiots holding hands on beaches, near waterways, and wherever else they will gather in the name of not having any gasoline to fill the tanks of the cars that brought them there, not having the electricity to power the air conditioners in their homes, not having anything made from plastic, not even having asphalt on the highways and streets they will drive upon after the event.

It is not likely to occur to any of them that deepwater oil wells are the result of the bans environmental organizations continue to demand as they oppose drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge or anywhere along the 85% of U.S. coastal areas where huge amounts of untapped oil and natural gas exist.

This nation faces many hazards, but the greatest hazard of all is a President who wants to pass the biggest tax in U.S. history, Cap-and-Trade, on energy use. It is not a climate bill. It is not a jobs bill.

It is just another scheme based on the fraud of reducing so-called greenhouse gas emissions. The Earth produces 97% of these emissions. They are a part of the atmosphere of the Earth, albeit the atmosphere is almost entirely composed of water vapor!

The cartoon character, Pogo, famously said, “We have met the enemy and it is us.” You can watch them join hands on Saturday and demand a return to the Dark Ages.

U.S. isolated on spending at G-20

Whilst most sane countries are tightening their spending belts, Obama is spending like there's no tomorrow. This has to tell the American people something. Hopefully it's telling them how to vote in November!
The U.S. will be isolated at the G-20 summit on the subject of stimulus spending.

In the days ahead of this weekend’s summit, President Barack Obama and his economic team have pressed Europe and Congress alike on the need for more spending to drive economic growth.

But huge gaps have emerged between the Obama administration and allies in Europe.

Germany, France and Great Britain have all launched austerity campaigns designed to reduce public debt. They’re motivated in part by the Greek debt crisis, which continues to scare countries across Europe.

“In the run-up to the summit, a clear plurality of G-20 countries has come up on the side of fiscal consolidation and not stimulus spending,” said Dan Price, a senior partner at Sidley Austin and former President George W. Bush’s “sherpa” for G-20 summits.

Japan has also introduced a strategy to reduce its budget deficit, while Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who is hosting the summit in Toronto, has challenged G-20 members to cut their deficits in half.

The motivation for the Obama administration is different. In less than five months, voters will elect a new House and Senate, and Democrats are in danger of losing their majority in the House.

Higher unemployment figures this summer will hurt the Democratic case this fall, which makes it tougher to argue against spending that could increase employment.

USA: In 2010, Conservatives Still Outnumber Moderates, Liberals

There may be hope for America after all. Over 40% are identifying themselves as being Conservative; 35% Moderate and a low 20% Liberal. Yet, we have that small minority running the country and hastening it to Socialism. How did that happen?

Conservatives have maintained their leading position among U.S. ideological groups in the first half of 2010. Gallup finds 42% of Americans describing themselves as either very conservative or conservative. This is up slightly from the 40% seen for all of 2009 and contrasts with the 20% calling themselves liberal or very liberal.

The recent rise in conservatism's fortunes follows a decline seen after 2003; liberalism has experienced the opposite pattern. From 1993 to 2002, the ideological trend had been fairly stable, with roughly 40% identifying as moderate, 38% as conservative, and 19% as liberal. Before that, the presidential bid of independent candidate Ross Perot may have contributed to a heightened proportion of Americans (43%) calling themselves moderate in 1992.

Racial Tinge Stains World Cup Exit in France

Ah, shame, the poor French frogs. Apparently their multi-culturalism mishmash has finally come home to roost. I predicted this years ago when the French team transformed into a bunch of black brothers. They don't want to play with their White team mates and their egos are so big that they think they are more important than the team and country. They can't even sing their national anthem. In any case this is poetic justice. France deserved to exit in disgrace after Thierry Henri deliberately used his arm to score the winning goal against Ireland in the qualifying rounds.

After France was booted from this year’s World Cup on Tuesday without winning a match — amid scenes of selfishness, indifference and indiscipline — the French news media piled on about the humiliation to the country and the misbehavior of its players. There were calls for a complete restructuring of the French team: its management, its method for choosing players, its training.

But there is a more troubling aspect to the reaction to the defeat, which has focused on lack of patriotism, shared values and national honor on a team with many members who are black or brown and descended from immigrants.

The philosopher Alain Finkielkraut, who has often criticized the failures of French assimilation, compared the players to youths rioting in the banlieues, France’s suburban ghettos. “We now have proof that the French team is not a team at all, but a gang of hooligans that knows only the morals of the mafia,” he said in a radio interview.

While most politicians have talked carefully of values and patriotism, rather than immigration and race, some legislators blasted the players as “scum,” “little troublemakers” and “guys with chickpeas in their heads instead of a brain,” according to news reports.

Fadela Amara, the junior minister for the racially charged suburbs who was born to Algerian parents, warned on Tuesday that the reaction to the team’s loss had become racially charged.

“There is a tendency to ethnicize what has happened,” she told a gathering of President Nicolas Sarkozy’s governing party, according to news reports. “Everyone condemns the lower-class neighborhoods. People doubt that those of immigrant backgrounds are capable of respecting the nation.”

She criticized Mr. Sarkozy’s handling of a debate on “national identity,” warning that “all democrats and all republicans will be lost” in this ethnically tinged criticism about Les Bleus, the French team. “We’re building a highway for the National Front,” she said, in a reference to the far-right, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim party founded by Jean-Marie Le Pen.

Philippe Tétart, a sport historian at the Institut d’Études Politiques, said that the undercurrent of racism was “very unhealthy, but one of the predictable negative outcomes of the World Cup defeat.”

France is confused about its identity and uncomfortable with the growing numbers and sometimes the attitudes of its immigrants and their children, he said. “What is certain is that we are going through in France questions of disobedience, of incivility, of loss of bearings, and this group of irritated young kids is an excessive reflection of those questions.”

In 1998, the French team that won the World Cup was widely praised for its multiethnic nature — black, white and Arab, and seen as a symbol of a more diverse nation. But today, Mr. Tétart said, the talk is the opposite.

Today’s players, he said, “come from a generation who come from the banlieues, and they don’t necessarily have the cultural background to understand what they did.”

Luc Chatel, the education minister, said on television Wednesday that he was “terribly angry” and shocked that Raymond Domenech, the team’s coach, who is blamed for some of the team’s disunity and apologized to the nation for the failures, refused to shake hands with the South African manager after the team’s final game.

“But I’m going to go farther,” he added. “A captain of the French team who does not sing ‘The Marseillaise,’ ” the national anthem, “shocks me, there it is. When one wears the jersey, one should be proud to wear the colors, you’re an example.”

He was speaking of Patrice Evra, who was born in Senegal and who found himself caught between players and managers as the team refused to practice after another black player, Nicolas Anelka, swore at Mr. Domenech and was removed from the team.

Mr. Sarkozy himself called a meeting on the disastrous result on Wednesday, summoning Prime Minister François Fillon, Sports Minister Roselyne Bachelot and Rama Yade, the junior sports minister. In a statement, he said he had ordered them “to rapidly draw the lessons of this disaster.”

The racial makeup of the French team has long been an issue on the far right, even in a country where all the French are “citizens” and are supposed to have equal rights. Of the 22-man squad, 13 are men of color, with two born in French territories.

This month, Marine Le Pen, the vice president of the National Front and daughter of its founder, said that she did not see herself in the makeup of the team, whose players behaved as individuals, not as a team, and who were “fighting for advertising contracts more than for their country.”

“Most of these guys,” she added, “consider at one moment that they represent France at the World Cup, and at another they are a part of another nation or have another nationality in their heart.”

In her contempt, which carefully did not mention the factors of race and ethnicity but implied them, she was echoing her father, who in June 2006 criticized the team for containing too many nonwhite players and failing to accurately reflect society. He also went on to scold players for not singing “La Marseillaise,” saying they were not French.

On Tuesday, Mr. Le Pen said that “the myth of antiracism is a sacred myth in France.” He added, apparently with no irony, that he hated politicians who turned the national soccer team into “a flag of antiracism instead of sport.”

Now, the language of Mr. Chatel, the education minister, resonates with the themes of the Le Pens. That reflects, critics say, the general effort of Mr. Sarkozy and his party, over the last few years, to weaken the far right by playing on the same themes of patriotism, nationhood and identity.

USA: Our Lazy President

I'm still waiting patiently for the American liberal press to start slandering the current POTUS in the same way they did Bush. Alas, it will never happen. As long as he is in power their liberal agenda should see windmills producing power and lovely green things all around; the government collecting the tax cash and then redistrubuting to those less fortunate; the once rich paying carbon credits for breathing..You get the picture. Where is that once proud nation whom the world feared? Playing golf.

I’m starting to get the feeling that President Obama is no workaholic.

His much trumpeted “War on Petroleum” speech in the Oval Office last week fell flat to most listeners, regardless of political affiliation, because our “genius”, Harvard educated President made it clear to the entire world that he knew less about the Gulf spill than the average 10th grader.

What has this man been doing with his time for the past two months?

You’d think by now Obama would at least have something intelligent to say about containment booms, or sand berms, or the Jones Act, or flow rates, or the coming hurricane season and its possible effects on the cleanup effort.

Sen. George Lemieux had this to say about a recent talk with Obama: “He doesn’t seem to know the situation about foreign skimmers (or) domestic skimmers.”

No kidding.

The President has access to the best information in the world, and yet I would swear the man hasn’t spent 20 minutes on Google researching the spill.

Even the commission Obama so proudly announced that would investigate the disaster and make sure it never happens again isn’t designed to produce any useful information … it doesn’t have one oil expert on it!

They’re just a bunch of left wing political hacks whose transparent purpose is to tell the President exactly what he wants to hear … namely yet another lame excuse for Cap and Trade legislation.

Obama’s ignorance regarding the oil spill, while not necessarily surprising for a man with a penchant for voting “present”, does illustrate one of the root problems with so-called liberal “intellectuals” … when you already know everything, there isn’t anything new to learn.

An Administration Run by Czars

Is it just me, or do you also get the impression that Obama views his job as President as going from one photo-op to the next?

Obama was in the White House for only a few weeks before he started farming out his authority to dozens of “czars”. There’s a good reason why no other President has ever done that, because what’s the point of being President if you’re not going to make the big decisions yourself?

I wouldn’t be surprised if members of the administration have stopped asking Obama permission for every little thing. As long as it follows the liberal mindset, like trying 911 terrorists in New York City or advocating equal pay for illegal immigrants, they probably figure Obama doesn’t care what they do.

No wonder Obama has ample free time for rock concerts and 5 hour golf sessions. He basically handed over his presidency to a collection of left wing radicals who are busy doing the job for him.

Immigrant baby boom drives up British population by double the rate of previous decade

Oh goody - England's immigrants are breeding like rabbits. One in four births last year were to mothers who were born outside Britain. I can bet you most were either  of African or Arab/Muslim descent. At this rate the indigenous European will be an endangered species in the near future. The other good news is that nearly one child in three is living without their father or mother. Yup - that's about right for the breeders. They have their fun and then leave tax payers to raise their spawn.

Britain’s fast-rising population is now close to 62million, the latest count showed yesterday.

Numbers of people in the country went up by 394,000 to reach 61,792,000 by the middle of last year, the Office for National Statistics said.

The increase of 0.6 per cent on the previous year means the population has been rising at the same rapid rate since the Millennium, mainly driven by high levels of immigration.

In the past decade, population levels have been rising as fast as they did at the peak of the post-war baby boom in the early 1960s.

The latest leap in numbers has been pushed by growing birth rates more than immigration, the ONS said.

It said that 45 per cent of last year’s population rise was brought about by immigration and 55 per cent by ‘ natural increase’ – the greater number of births than deaths.

But the rising birth rate is itself a product of immigration – one in four births last year were to mothers who were born outside Britain.

The country's population rose by 176,000 as a result of migration, down on the previous year by 15,000 as the recession cut numbers of people coming into the country to find work.

But it is still 23 per cent higher than in 2002 when net migration, the number of people added to the population after both immigration and emigration have been counted, stood at 143,000.

The ONS believes that continuing high levels of immigration means the population will hit the politically-sensitive 70million level in 2029.

Ministers repeated yesterday their promise to slash the number of immigrants.

Immigration Minister Damian Green said: ‘We believe immigration has been far too high in recent years, which is why the Government will reduce net migration back down to the levels of the 1990s – to tens of thousands rather than hundreds of thousands.

‘Over the coming weeks and months the public will see us tackle this issue by introducing a wide range of measures.’

Mexico files court brief against Arizona immigration law

How's this for a cheek? Not only does Mexico encourage most of its poor to invade the USA - who then has to clothe, feed and support them - but Mexico has now decided to support a lawsuit which is challenging the constitutionality of the new immigration law because the human and civil rights of its citizens should be respected whilst in the USA! Ha ha....this is just so ridiculous I have to laugh otherwise I'll cry.

Mexico on Tuesday filed a brief in federal court in Arizona supporting a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a tough new immigration law, Mexico's foreign ministry said.

The lawsuit seeks to overturn SB 1070, a recently passed law due to go into effect late next month, which stipulates that police can ask the residency status of people being investigated for a crime.

"The government of Mexico has requested the court that SB 1070 be declared unconstitutional and that it does not enter into force," the foreign ministry said in a written statement.

The Mexican government gave its support to the lawsuit filed by a group of civil rights organizations, including the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund, the National Immigration Law Center and the American Civil Liberties Union.

In its brief, Mexico "underscored that it is fundamental and imperative that the human and civil rights of its citizens are duly respected while present in Arizona or in any other state of the United States," the foreign ministry said.

In filing the brief, Mexico said it was upholding its duty to protect its nationals in the United States and ensure that they are not discriminated against based on their ethnicity.

The case is Friendly House, et al v. Michael B. Whiting, et al.

Mannequins in Tehran Have No Breasts—What Next?

A real eye-opener of an article. The suppression of women is out of control in radical, Muslim countries - soon to come to a Western country near you! Please take the time to read about the religion of "peace" and the dangers of allowing these weirdos to live near you.

Dangerous serial killers and sex criminals roam the Western world. In the not-too-distant past, such remorseless killers, such as Jack The Ripper, Ted Bundy, and the Green River Killer, targeted mainly vulnerable women, including prostituted women, whom they kidnapped, raped, tortured, and murdered. Often, breasts and genitalia were savagely mutilated.

Today, these horrific, individual acts pale in comparison to the barbarism of the Islamist world where similar, but legally approved and publicly shared acts of woman-hatred are carried out by national presidents, religious leaders, Vice and Virtue police—and by mobs inflamed by Friday sermons. In 2001, egged on by their imam, hundreds of men in Hassi Messaoud, Algeria physically and sexually attacked any woman they could find, murdering some, sexually mutilating others. Also in Algeria, religious paramilitary troops kidnapped young girls off the streets, forced them into domestic and sexual slavery, then murdered and beheaded them when they became pregnant. In 2006, one thousand men in Cairo, Egypt, went on a post-mosque “wilding” in which they attacked every unveiled, then every veiled, woman in sight.

True, civil and ethnic wars, largely in Africa (Rwanda, Sudan, Congo), are also characterized by savage anti-woman practices such as the repeated, public gang-rapes of young girls and women. Indeed, rape has increasingly been used as a strategic weapon of war, not merely as a spoil of war—and this once happened in European Bosnia and Herzegovina as well. But by and large, the normalized brutalization of women characterizes Arab and Muslim behavior especially in an Islamist, jihadic era.

The Khomeini- Algerian- and Taliban-era’s hot hatred of women, including Muslim women, and of disobedient Muslim girls and women, got heartbreakingly hotter.

Khomeini began by re-veiling the formerly modern and educated women of Tehran. The 1980s Iranian mullahcracy escalated matters; they stoned women to death—but raped them first so that the rape victim would not be able to enter Paradise. The mullahs also forced women into prostitution, then penalized them (not the Johns or the pimps) for it, all the while restricting womens’ rights at home, on the streets, and on the job.

Afghanistan (which didn’t need much in the way of encouragement) went “native” and adopted some of the worst Arab customs. They also went “Persian,” and came into their medieval own. Thus, the Afghan Taliban also stoned women to death but they did so publicly, in large stadiums, with large, blood-thirsty, cheering male crowds. The Afghan Taliban, and after them, the warlords, refused to allow women to work, even when they were war widows and the mothers of dependent children. This forced women into prostitution for which they were jailed. Girls were prevented from going to school, women could not even run beauty parlors or wear makeup, polygamy flourished as did the sale and forced marriage of female children.

Then, the Pakistani Taliban jumped on this bandwagon of misogyny. Roving vigilante squads started spraying acid onto little girls’ faces for the crimes of going to school or simply for allowing their headscarves to slip. They went beyond mutilating the breasts and genitalia of murder victims to scarring the faces of young girls forever.

The control of women and the woman-hating frenzy went viral, crossed borders, and is now quite simply out of control.

For example, in 2009, a militia in a “Muslim region” of the Philippines massacred more than fifty people and sexually mutilated 22 of the murdered women. This is a militia acting in the name of Islam; it is not just one lone savage and psychopathic individual.

In 2010, in Afghanistan, nineteen-year-old Bibi Aisha had her nose and ears cut off by her husband because she had run away from him and his family. A Taliban Court handed down this sentence. Vigilante-style misogynist justice is the customary law of the land.

                                Bibi Aisha

Recently, a woman’s clothing store in Tehran featured female mannequins with their breasts clearly removed, hacked off or filed down, on “orders from the Vice police” as part of the current crackdown on “un-Islamic” or bad hijab practices. This makes perfect, if jarring, sense.

A woman’s physical existence is, by definition, sexual and is therefore considered shameful. Living women must literally be covered up, “disappeared,” rendered invisible, lest their living, breathing, bodies lead men into temptation. Alternatively, where possible, one might want to “practice” eviscerating, mutilating, removing the characteristics that render the female form offensive—perhaps on a dummy, a mannequin, and in a store window.

What comes next? And don’t tell me that destroying the breasts of female mannequins in Tehran is the same as Western women surgically reducing their breasts for cosmetic reasons. The latter is an individual choice, possibly misguided, possibly inspired, and is about making oneself more, not less, sexually attractive. The case of the Tehran mannequin without breasts is an example of a legally mandated non-choice in the service of publicly abolishing one of the biological characteristics of being born female.

It is a public warning.

Such woman-phobia, such woman-hatred, always signifies fear and contempt for the life force itself. Thus, the worship of death, the hatred of life, is at the heart of the existential struggle between Islamist terrorists and Israel and between Islamist terrorists and the West. We can measure the terrorist’s capacity and willingness to mass murder infidels in a Holy war by their capacity and willingness to murder their own women as well as other Muslims.

Do not expect World War Three to be a short war.

Germany: Standardised tests reveal huge learning gaps

Southern German students have come out on top of the country’s first nationwide standardised language tests, according to results presented this week by state education ministers. The worst? Students from Bremen - mainly populated by Turks (who fared the worst - surprise!). Bremen – to put it bluntly – is closer to the level of Brazil or Mexico....

Ninth-graders from 1,500 schools across the nation were tested for their English and German skills, and the clear leaders were the states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. They were followed by Saxony and Rhineland-Palatinate, while the worst performer was the city-state of Bremen.

The tests taken by some 41,000 students were the first measure of new nationwide educational standards set in place after the country's embarrassing show in the European standardised PISA test performance in 2000.

As with the PISA tests, the Germany-specific assessment conducted by IQB institute for educational development showed a massive difference between northern and southern states.

Bavarian students were on average a whole school year ahead of their peers in Bremen when it came to reading comprehension – considered the most important subject for overall learning. On listening comprehension, they were nearly one-and-a-half years ahead.

The standardised tests mirrored PISA results that showed a strong connection between social background and educational success. An upper-class child with the same intelligence as a child born to skilled labourers has 4.5 times the likelihood of attending a college-preparatory high school, results showed.

Interestingly, on a state level this social difference was greatest in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, the states with the highest test scores. There, children of university-educated parents were respectively 6.6 and 6.5 times more likely to attend an upper-level high school, called a Gymnasium. The state with the most social equality among its students was found to be Berlin, where upper class students were only 1.7 times more likely to attend a Gymnasium.

The IQB tests also measured what proportion of students are from an immigration background, registering a nationwide average of 18 percent. The highest concentration of these students were in the city-states of Berlin, Hamburg and Bremen. The tests showed an enormous difference in the academic capabilities between these students and native Germans, with Turks, the country’s largest immigrant population, performing the worst. Students from Poland and the former Soviet states showed far better results, signalling large differences among individual immigrant groups, the IQB found.

The head of the German teachers’ association (DL) Josef Kraus praised the tests on Thursday as a better way to measure student performance than the PISA tests.

“The new school study is more strongly related to German lesson plans and educational standards than the PISA tests,” he told daily Passauer Neue Presse, adding that looking at both sets of results allowed comparisons on both an international and state level.

“One can see that states like Bavaria are closer to exemplary countries like Finland,” he told the paper. “Other states like Bremen – to put it bluntly – are closer to the level of Brazil or Mexico.”

The success of the southern states comes from longer school hours, Kraus said.

“Within the first eight school years there are easily 300 to 400 more hours of class,” he said.

Suckers for Sharia Finance - Sharia-compliant banking products a 'huge flop' in Britain

Maybe, before these stupid, greedy bankers fall for the new PC way of losing making money, they should cast their eyes to Muslim countries and see how well their Sharia banking system works and how prosperous their Sharia countries are. Stupid is as Stupid does...and that Western Bankers can be such suckers is unbelievable.

ISLAMIC bank accounts and other financial products have failed to take off in Britain, according to industry insiders.

This is despite hopes that the UK would become a pioneer in a new growth market.

New banks that were set up to appeal to the UK's nearly two million Muslims and Sharia-compliant products created by the existing high street lenders have failed to make much of an impact, critics say.

Junaid Bhatti, part of the team that set up Islamic Bank of Britain, the first Sharia-compliant bank approved by the Financial Services Authority, says that the sector has been a big disappointment.

"As we now approach the sixth anniversary of IBB's launch, I'm sad to finally have to admit that Islamic finance in the UK has been a huge flop," he said. "IBB may still be limping on as probably the last bastion of the cause, but it's difficult to imagine it holding out for much longer."

Competitors have fared even worse and many had closed or scaled back their operations significantly, Mr Bhatti said.

Established banks that launched Islamic banking products are also believed to have fared poorly. HSBC and Lloyds were seen as having made the biggest efforts to make inroads, but without much success, Mr Bhatti said.

"Lloyds, which made a half-hearted stab at Sharia-compliant products in 2004, doesn't seem to have promoted its offering for years," he said in an article for MuslimPolitics.com.

"Even HSBC Amanah, probably the most credible and efficient provider of halal banking in the UK, has dramatically reduced its dedicated Islamic banking staff in Britain, and its marketing volume has been turned way down."

Neither Lloyds nor HSBC would give customer figures, but HSBC said that its accounts were growing at 10 per cent to 15 per cent a year. Lloyds did market its Islamic products but is no longer doing so.

An official said that they were detailed on its website.

Anyone visiting a branch could ask about its Islamic personal and business current accounts but would not see an adviser with specialist knowledge.

HSBC has launched several Islamic products since it got into the market in the UK in 2003 and has a dedicated salesforce in branches in areas with large Muslim communities.

The main aims of Islamic finance include the avoidance of riba, or usury, and making sure that money is not used to support industries considered to be unethical, such as alcoholic beverages, pornography and gambling.

Mohammad Qayyum, the director-general of the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance in the UK, said that there had not been "a concerted campaign by banks to make people aware" of available products. Another hurdle is that banks often price their Islamic products more expensively than alternatives, he said.

However, there could be some improvement with legislative changes designed to make it easier for banks to offer Islamic products, which should reduce their price.

The Treasury has made changes in the tax law to accommodate Sharia products, Mr Qayyum said, and the FSA is consulting on a new framework for the issuance and regulation of sukuk, or Islamic bonds.

English Mayor puts his money where his mouth is...

The beginning of the end for Political Correctness: the counter-revolution has begun in Doncaster. Their new Mayor has abolished gay pride parades; black history month; translation services for immigrants (because they should learn English!); disregards green "clap-trap" and has increased parking spaces to lure people back to the city etc. etc etc. As the author states, these "implemented" measures would have been standard policies a few years back, but PC rubbish has crept in everywhere. Maybe if this Mayor succeeds we'll see a return to common sense.

You do not have to go all the way in supporting the English Democrats party, whose silly proposal for an English parliament would add another superfluous layer to already excessive government, to raise a glass to Peter Davies, the party’s elected Mayor of Doncaster. Davies, the father of Tory MP Philip Davies, is one of just 11 directly elected mayors and he is enjoying increasing media exposure because of his outrageous agenda which, against all the tenets of consensual British politics, consists of doing what the public wants.

In his first week in office he cut his own salary from £73,000 to £30,000, which is putting one’s money where one’s mouth is. He also scrapped the mayoral limousine. He is ending Doncaster’s twinning with five towns around the world, an arrangement which he describes as “just for people to fly off and have a binge at the council’s expense”. He intends now to reduce (that’s right, reduce) council tax by 3 per cent this year.

The “diversity” portfolio has been abolished from the council’s cabinet. From next year no more funding will be given to the town’s “Gay Pride” event, on the grounds that people do not need to parade their sexuality, whatever it may be, at taxpayers’ expense. Black History Month, International Women’s Day and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History Month are similarly destined to become history.

Council funding of translation services for immigrants has been scrapped because he believes incomers should take the trouble to learn English. Officials have been ordered to abandon bureaucratic gobbledegook language. Davies is saving the taxpayers £80,000 by disaffiliating from the pointless Local Government Association and the Local Government Information Unit. He aims to abolish all non-jobs on the council, as epitomised by “community cohesion officers”. He is taking advice from the Taxpayers’ Alliance and the Campaign Against Political Correctness.

Davies’s views are calculated to put Harriet Harridan into intensive care for six months. He disregards all “green claptrap”, is creating more parking spaces to encourage traffic in the town for the benefit of business (”I’m not green and I’m not conned by global warming”). He has asked the Electoral Commission to reduce the number of Doncaster’s councillors from 63 to 21 (”If Pittsburgh can manage with nine councillors, why do we need 63?”).

You may be feeling disorientated, overcome by a surreal sensation, on hearing such extraordinary, unprecedented views. They are the almost forgotten, forcibly extinguished voice of sanity which most people had thought forever excised from British politics. These policies are common sense, which is something we have not experienced in any council chamber, still less the House of Commons, in decades. The establishment is moving heaven and earth to discredit and obstruct Davies. He is that ultimate embarrassment: the boy who reveals that the Emperor has no clothes.

If it is good enough for Doncaster, it is good enough for Britain. Our effete, corrupt, politically correct politicians must be compelled to follow suit. Once upon a time, such policies would have been axiomatic in the Tory Party. In the Cameron-occupied Conservative Party of today they are regarded as anathema. There has to be an inflexible public will to enforce the country’s wishes on the political class under pain of ejection from public life. That is the sole agenda for the next general election. The mainstream parties, as currently constituted, are no longer electable.

Australia: Julia Gillard to be Australia's first female PM after Kevin Rudd quits

So, Rudd is gone as Prime Minister of Australia and in is place we have a tough communist female. Gillard is tainted with the excess spending on her "school building revolution" and I hope the Ozzies see this. This whole debacle has just shown the Australian people that the unions are running the Labour Party. How quaint and communist. Prepare for more "redistribution" of our wealth...

JULIA Gillard will become Australia's first female Prime Minister after she won a stunning leadership contest against Kevin Rudd this morning.

In a historic decision, Labor MPs decided to oust Mr Rudd, who will go down in history as the first Prime Minister ever to be turfed out by his party - within his first term of winning power.

The leadership handover occurred without a ballot after Mr Rudd decided not to force his supporters into declaring their support.

"I feel very honoured,'' a smiling Ms Gillard said as she emerged from the meeting.

The victory of the Welsh-born 49-year-old was assured last night after most of the Rudd Government ministers - including Treasurer Wayne Swan - decided to oust Mr Rudd as the Labor leader.

A confident Ms Gillard, flanked by the Treasurer who will become her deputy, walked into the Caucus meeting confident she had the numbers to defeat Mr Rudd.

Ms Gillard - and the man she ousted as national leader - addressed a dazed Labor partyroom.

Mr Rudd - who won power in 2007 with the popular Kevin 07 campaign - bowed to pressure from his colleagues and withdrew from the contest, assuring Ms Gillard's ascension to the leadership.

Mr Rudd's decision to stand aside came as he lost the backing of key factional brokers - and powerful unions including the Australian Workers Union - after ALP powerbrokers formed the view that the Government was heading for defeat unless it changed leaders.

But a series of political mistakes - including ditching the emissions trading scheme and rolling out a new 40 per cent "super'' profits take on the mining sector - saw a collapse in Mr Rudd's and Labor's vote.

The first female PM after 109 years of Federation will be sworn-in by the nation's first Governor-general Quentin Bryce.

It is unclear whether Ms Gillard will call an election before the end of the year. It is not technically due until April next year.

Chicago: Ten dead among 54 shot aross city over weekend

I haven't posted the entire article - just a snippet. For those who don't know, Chicago has a gun ban to "reduce gun violence" in the city. Well, here is the result. Everyone knows that when law abiding citizens are armed, there is usually less crime and more freedom.

Ten people were killed and at least 44 others were shot across the city Friday night into early Monday, including a baby girl who suffered a graze wound to the neck when gunfire erupted at a Near West Side barbecue.

The latest victims were found naked, shot to death and lying face down on railroad property near West 91st Street and South Holland Road on the South Side about 8:50 a.m Monday, according to a Calumet Area sergeant. Both were shot at some point Sunday night.

The victims, black males believed to be between 16 and 20, remained unidentified as of late Monday afternoon.

Wind farm owners get fee to switch off turbines in heavy winds

This is what green jobs are going to do to PC countries. Spain has shown that for each green job created, two private sector jobs are lost. Spain is now fighting bankruptcy. Spain has been bailing out its green industries with...tax payer money for the last decade (it's easy to spend when it's not your money hey?). France has proven that nuclear energy is the answer, but of course we can't offend the greeny liberal idiots around the world (including here in Australia) so the world persists with this ineffectual wind turbine nonsense. And guess what? When the wind is too strong and the turbines need to be switched off, the company is going to get paid to hit that switch. So, not only do we as tax payers have to pay more for energy to fund these loony programs, we also get to pay when there is no energy produced! Aint that grand?

Owners of wind farms will be paid to switch off their turbines and stop generating electricity if it gets too windy.

National Grid says the payments are essential to prevent the supply of electricity from overloading the network.

In a test run last month, Scottish Power was paid £13,000 for shutting down one wind farm for an hour and cutting the output of another.

Critics of wind farms described the payments - which are passed on to customers' bills - as bizarre and said they highlighted the problems of relying on intermittent wind power.

To keep the lights on across Britain, National Grid has constantly to match the demand for electricity with supply.

Much of the demand is predicted from weather forecasts and TV schedules. But to cope with sudden changes in weather or plant failures, National Grid also relies on the 'balancing mechanism' - ordering producers to increase or reduce output on a minute-by-minute basis.

Until now this has involved coal and gas-fired power stations but as Britain becomes increasingly reliant on green energy, National Grid also wants wind farms to take part.

USA: Bail Out for Teacher Unions Imminent

Yesterday I posted an article on the state of the teacher pension funds in Illinois. I mentioned that Obama was asking for another $23 billion to bail out his union teacher buddies . He cares stuff-all about educating the American kids - he's more worried about paying his kiddie-indoctrinators back for doing all the leg work during his 2008 campaign. This guy is a joke and whilst Rome burns he's playing golf...

Democrats and the teachers unions are trying every which way to pass a $23 billion “education jobs fund” bill, a bailout for our public schools. The money would be used to ease the ever-increasing burden of employee retirement costs, health care increases and other benefits. The spending has little if anything to do with children.

But that hasn’t stopped the National Education Association from using children in its television advertising. Kids are doing the dirty work for the adults because, of course, long-faced kids tugging at America’s heartstrings are much more impactful than a bunch of adults with their hand out.

The “education jobs fund” is little more than a back scratch for the teachers unions, because in 2008, they scratched the back of those currently in power in Washington DC with millions of dollars of campaign contributions and boots on the ground in key states and districts.

This all gets back to the fact that the NEA (and the AFT) wants to maintain its power and that is done through money and members.

Kids are an afterthought in the NEA’s political calculation, if they ever dawn on the union at all.

That’s because both school employee unions have successfully put the focus of public education spending on the needs of adults, not students. Read the newspaper during contract negotiation time in your community; the fight invariably is about pay and benefits – not what policy is best to increase student achievement. (Student achievement? what does that have to do with the job-providing schools?)

Sometimes the dig through the bureaucratic public school heap to find the students turns into a journey to the center of the earth.

Just look at the spending. In Illinois, the teachers’ pension fund has an estimated $70 BILLION unfunded liability. Schools need that federal stimulus to keep funding that sinking system.

The teachers union-owned health insurance entity in Michigan is jacking up premium rates on some districts by 25%. MESSA, as it’s known, pays the union millions of dollars each year. As an aside, didn’t the Obama administration hammer on a California insurer during the health care debate for increases in that range? Never mind that these hikes are coming after the passage of ObamaCare. That’s irrelevant, mainly because they’re coming from an ally of his.

And some districts, because of tenure, actually pay teachers to go away and give them positive letters of recommendation. One teacher in Michigan that was on a last chance agreement for drinking alcohol in the class room, was caught boozing it up again. A cool $90,980 payoff got him out of the classroom.

This is the system that doesn’t have enough money? And this is the system that spits kids out at the end of the assembly line that can’t read and aren’t prepared to compete globally? And you, teachers unions – the defenders of the adults – have the gall to demand more?

Your allies in Congress, the Democrats are eyeing the wave of discontent that’s about the crash onshore in November. They realize how angry Americans are. The jig will be up then and the spigot of out-of-control spending will (hopefully) be shut off. Thank goodness a handful of Democrats are beginning to see the impact the reckless spending will have on the children the union claims to put first.

Barack Obama, Dreamer in Chief

A brilliant article by Charles Krauthammer. He sums up Obama succinctly. As I've long thought, Obama is an empty vessel that makes a lot of noise about nothing that he knows even less about...

Pres. Barack Obama doesn’t do the mundane. He was sent to us to do larger things. You could see that plainly in his Oval Office address on the Gulf oil spill. He could barely get himself through the pedestrian first half: a bit of BP-bashing, a bit of faux-Clintonian “I feel your pain,” a bit of recovery and economic-mitigation accounting. It wasn’t until the end of the speech — the let-no-crisis-go-to-waste part that tried to leverage the Gulf Coast devastation to advance his cap-and-trade climate-change agenda — that Obama warmed to his task.

Pedestrian is beneath Obama. Mr. Fix-It he is not. He is world-historical, the visionary, come to make the oceans recede and the planet heal.

How? By creating a glorious, new clean-green economy. And how exactly to do that? From Washington, by presidential command, and with tens of billions of dollars thrown around. With the liberal (and professorial) conceit that scientific breakthroughs can be legislated into existence, Obama proposes to give us a new industrial economy.

But is this not what we’ve been trying to do for decades with ethanol — which remains a monumental boondoggle, economically unviable and environmentally damaging to boot — as with yesterday’s panacea, synfuels, into which Jimmy Carter poured billions?

Notice that Obama no longer talks about Spain, which until recently he repeatedly cited for its visionary subsidies of a blossoming new clean-energy industry. That’s because Spain, now on the verge of bankruptcy, is pledged to reverse its disastrously bloated public spending, including radical cuts in subsidies to its uneconomical photovoltaic industry.

There’s a reason petroleum is such a durable fuel. It’s not, as Obama fatuously suggested, because of oil-company lobbying, but because it is very portable, energy-dense, and easy to use.

But this doesn’t stop Obama from thinking that he can mandate a superior substitute into being. His argument: Well, if we can put a man on the moon, why not this?

Aside from the irony that this most tiresome of clichés comes from a president who is canceling our program to return to the moon, it is utterly meaningless. The wars on cancer and on poverty have been similarly sold. They remain unwon. Why? Because we knew how to land on the moon. We had the physics to do it. Cancer cells, on the other hand, are far more complex than the Newtonian equations that govern a moon landing. Equally daunting are the laws of social interaction — even assuming there are any — that sustain a culture of poverty.

Similarly, we don’t know how to make renewables that match the efficiency of fossil fuels. In the interim, it is Obama and his Democratic allies who, as they dream of such scientific leaps, are unwilling to use existing technologies to reduce our dependence on foreign (i.e., imported) and risky (i.e., deepwater) sources of oil — twin dependencies that Obama decried in Tuesday’s speech.

“Part of the reason oil companies are drilling a mile beneath the surface of the ocean,” said Obama, is “because we’re running out of places to drill on land and in shallow water.”

Running out of places on land? What about the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge or the less-known National Petroleum Reserve — 23 million acres of Alaska’s North Slope, near the existing pipeline and designated nearly a century ago for petroleum development — that have been shut down by the federal government?

Running out of shallow-water sources? How about the Pacific Ocean, a not-inconsiderable body of water, and its vast U.S. coastline? That’s been off-limits to new drilling for three decades.

We haven’t run out of safer and more easily accessible sources of oil. We’ve been run off them by environmentalists. They prefer to dream green instead.

Obama is dreamer in chief: He wants to take us to this green future “even if we’re unsure exactly what that looks like. Even if we don’t yet precisely know how we’re going to get there.” Here’s the offer: Tax carbon, spend trillions, and put government in control of the energy economy — and he will take you he knows not where, by way of a road he knows not which.

That’s why Tuesday’s speech was received with such consternation. It was so untethered from reality. The Gulf is gushing, and the president is talking mystery roads to unknown destinations. That passes for vision, and vision is Obama’s thing. It sure beats cleaning up beaches.

Zimbabwe wheat production seen at record low

Zimbabwe is set to produce even less wheat than in 2009. Last year they reached the amazing figure of 15 000 tonnes and this year they are forecast to output just 10 000 tonnes. The country needs between 400 000 and 450 000 tonnes to feed its well-to-do citizens (who are fleeing into South Africa as we speak). But, never fear because Mad Bob has a plan! And what is that plan you ask me? Well, duh! To get rid of more white farmers! Makes perfect African sense to me...

Zimbabwe is set to record its lowest ever wheat output of about 10 000 tonnes this year due to lack of funding and continued upheavals on commercial farms, a farmers' union said on Wednesday.

Wheat is Zimbabwe's second staple grain, after maize, but the country - a regional breadbasket before President Robert Mugabe's drive to seize land from whites to resettle landless blacks - has failed to meet its annual consumption requirements of between 400 000 and 450 000 tonnes.

Last year, Zimbabwe produced about 15 000 tonnes of wheat, according to the Commercial Farmers' Union (CFU), although government projections put the figure four times higher.

The CFU which represents the few remaining white farmers in the country, said Zimbabwe would need to meet almost its entire wheat requirements through imports.

"The winter wheat situation is incredibly serious. We always used to produce in the region of 250 000-300 000 tonnes, there was always a small deficit," CFU vice-president Charles Taffs told reporters.

"However, with this year's plantings we see that this country will produce no more than 10 000 tonnes of wheat. In other words, we are going to have to import in the region of 390 000-400 000 tonnes of wheat to meet our internal consumption requirements."

A huge grain import bill would exert pressure on Zimbabwe's power-sharing government, set up by Mugabe and bitter his rival Morgan Tsvangirai, now prime minister, which is battling to reverse a decade of economic decline
The unity government has said it needs over $10 billion aid to fix the economy, but most donors are holding out on funding the fragile coalition, pressing for more reforms and watching for signs Mugabe is ready to genuinely share power.

Taffs said the forecast wheat yield would be the lowest on record, equivalent to just over a week's consumption.

The CFU says continued disturbances on the farms and lack of funding to purchase seed and fertiliser had resulted in a drastic reduction in the planted hectarage.

Frequent power cuts were also affecting much of the irrigated winter wheat crop.

"Productive farming is on the verge of collapse, there is no investor confidence where security of tenure is uncertain," Taffs said.

The eviction of white farmers continues unabated, with 16 more forced off farms in the past four days, Taffs added.

Critics say Mugabe's land seizures triggered the collapse of Zimbabwe's once vibrant commercial farming sector, with the production of most major crops falling sharply.

Aid agencies say millions of Zimbabweans still rely on food handouts, despite some improvement in the production of the staple maize crop, which reached 1.5 million tonnes in the 2009-2010 farming season according to government figures.

South Africa: Muti used to help Bafana

Another heart-warming article from my former homeland. Seems that those annoying vuvuzelas still haven't driven every sane soccer team back to their civilised countries with their tails between their legs, so the ingenious Blacks have now turned to sheep's brains and human body parts to get their team, Bafana Bafana, through the first round at the Soccer World Cup. Apparently you must believe in Muti for it to work (a convenient excuse for Sangomas to cover their asses if it fails methinks!). Anyway, enjoy the read and yes, after reading, you may get down on your knees and thank the powers that be that you don't live in Africa and that your kids are safe at night.

Johannesburg - With the vuvuzelas so far falling short of providing a winning boost to South Africa at the World Cup, some locals are turning to other, far more imaginative means of help.

In order to increase Bafana Bafana's chances of making it through the first round of the tournament, the first to be played on the African continent, people are burning, brewing and smoking.

Traditionalists believe a mixture of herbs, plants and animal parts, such as vulture brains and aloe, can be used to change luck, heal sickness or enhance performance.

Sometimes, muti can contain human body parts.

"Muti works," said Miriam Lethaba, a 62-year-old domestic worker from Ratanda, a township west of Johannesburg. "It can make Bafana strong."

Bafana Bafana, lost to Uruguay on Wednesday and needs to beat France on Tuesday to have any chance of reaching to the knock-out rounds.

If they fail to advance, South Africa would become the first host team to be eliminated from the tournament in the first round.

In order to avoid that embarrassment, sangomas are doing their best to give the team an edge, believing that burning muti at football matches can change the team's luck.

Zulu for tree
"I believe that muti can improve Bafana's performance," said Abel Zwane, a 50-year-old merchant who sells traditional medicine in Heidelberg, outside Johannesburg.

Jaco Lushaba, a 40-year-old traditional Zulu dancer from Ratanda, said he also believes in muti, but thinks he may have previously been a victim of someone else's burning concoction.

"I once lost in a competition were the smell of muti was everywhere," Lushaba said. "It made me confused and I could not perform at my best."

Muti developed among the indigenous people of Africa over centuries. The name comes from the Zulu word for tree. Some traditionalists burn or brew muti to ensure good fortune and others use it to predict forthcoming events.

"People go to sangomas to make muti for good luck and to see into the future," said Ibrahim Hoosen, a 66-year-old Heidelberg man who owns a muti shop.

Sangomas are found in the Zulu, Xhosa, Swazi and Ndebele cultures of southern Africa. Some white South Africans, like Ben van der Merwe, have studied with sangomas and also make muti.

Van der Merwe, however, isn't convinced that his potions would be of any use to the national football team.

"The only sport-related muti treatment that I know of is called 'flesh builders,' but I have not heard of anyone who uses muti to influence Bafana's performance," said Van der Merwe, an Afrikaner from Heidelberg.

Muti works
Angunsto Honwano, a 22-year-old street vendor from Belfour, south of Johannesburg, is also sceptical about muti's ability to help Bafana Bafana.

"Muti works for good luck," Honwano said. "But for Bafana, they will have to play hard to get through the first round."

Muti also has a dark side, however. Muti killings, in which a person's body parts are used to supposedly make the medicine stronger, are still all too common on the continent.

Some estimates say there are about 300 muti killings each year in South Africa, and very few of them get reported.

In 2001, the body of a young African boy was found in the Thames near London's Tower Bridge, and experts identified it to be a muti-related killing.

But the dark side aside, Lushaba said muti can help South Africa beat France and reach the next round of the World Cup - as long as the players believe in it.

"The problem is that there are many different cultures in the Bafana team and I don't think that they all believe in the power of muti," Lushaba said.

"The only way muti can work for Bafana Bafana is if every member of the team believes that it can work.

"Muti is about believing. If you do not truly believe that it can work, then it won't."

Chinese anti-violence demonstration in Paris is met with tear gas

Thousands of Asian immigrants marched in Belleville, a suburb of Paris, France, to protest violent crimes committed against their community by African and Middle Eastern immigrants. Most of the Asians are Chinese with over a half million currently live in France. After the parade ended running battles started all over Paris as groups of Asians encountered groups of Negros and Arabs on their way home. According the French Asian association “Ji Hui,” Chinese immigrants live in fear of “thugs” and the French police are not protecting anyone. I don't really care about the Chinese clashing with Africans and Arabs - but of all the articles I scanned regarding this story, not ONE admitted that Africans and Arabs are responsible for the attacks on the Chinese. That's what PO's me off!

Paris police tear-gassed demonstrators from the city's Chinese community Sunday when a march to protest a spate of violent robberies descended into scuffles after a demonstrator's bag was stolen.

Police said some 8,500 demonstrators turned out onto the streets of city's eastern Belleville district, where they called for "coordinated and concerted" action by the authorities against the growing number of attacks.

Trouble broke out as the demonstration was breaking up with scuffles erupting between a group of around a dozen youths and 50 young demonstrators, police sources told AFP.

According to multiple witnesses, the trouble started when a bag belonging to one of the demonstrators was stolen. Police were forced to intervene and three people were arrested, said the police source.

Police tear-gassed the crowd after objects were thrown at them, prompting demonstrators to overturn cars and block traffic in the area for several hours.

Belleville is an ethnically diverse district of the French capital that has seen an influx of Asian immigrants in the last 10 years.

According to organisers from French-Chinese organisations, who distributed 5,000 T-shirts and stickers saying "Security For All", it was the largest demonstration by the Chinese community on record in France.

"French-Asian associations are marching for the first time against the lack of security," said the president of the organisers, Chan Sing Mo. "If the problem continues, we'll come out again in larger numbers."

In the last few months, Chinese in the French capital have been subjected to attacks and violent robberies by youths in Belleville and other parts of eastern Paris, and many feel at a disadvantage as immigrants.

You thought California pensions funds were in trouble? Lookee at Illinois!

I'm not going to spoil it for you. Read the article below to see how much the top 100 retirees from the Teachers' Retirement System in Illinois are going to cost their tax payers. Unbelievable. Why the heck didn't I get me a public job where I would've been guaranteed a huge pension payout at the cost of the America tax payers?? And The Annointed One is trying to secure another $26billion for bailout of Teachers' Unions. Don't ever say that Obama aint loyal to his friends!

Meet Neil Codell an Illinois educator with a $26 million state pension. Just to drive the point further -- if Obama gets his way on his proposed state bailout, you will be paying a portion of Mr. Codell's pension.

'Codell, Neil C.' is 4th from the top of the list.

His estimated career pension is $26,661,604.

That's almost $27 million for a single administrator within just one local Illinois school system (Niles, to be exact).

While the California teachers' unions are effectively destroying one school system after another, an alert commenter pointed me to some even more shocking news from Illinois. Their pension system for educators is - if you can believe it - even farther off the reservation.

Using actuarial calculations from the Teachers' Retirement System (TRS), Champion News reports that the total estimated pension liability for the top 100 retirees will equal...

Make sure you're sitting down.

You read this right. The top 100 retirees, by themselves, will cost Illinois taxpayers nearly one billion dollars.

Feel free to pass the link on to your fellow sucker USA tax payers!!

Well Duh! Lower achievements at mixed schools

From time to time you’ll see news reports about lavishly-funded scientific studies that reach conclusions that seem obvious to ordinary people. You know the kind of thing I mean — $200,000 to find out that women who are unhappy in their marriages are more likely to cheat on their husbands. Or maybe a half a million to demonstrate that people with arthritis play squash poorly. The following report from the Netherlands is the same sort of thing. Once upon a time, a sensible person could have reached the same conclusions without conducting the scientific research. But when common sense runs contrary to political correctness, it takes expensive professional studies to override the PC — and even that may not be enough to do it.

For years and years, the ‘perfect school’ was defined by having the right ratio of black to white, native to migrant and rich to poor. However, recent Dutch research has exposed this myth. Children at mixed schools consistently score lower grades than their peers at predominantly white or black schools.

Dutch sociology professor Jaap Dronkers has carried out research into the pros and cons of ethnic diversity in secondary education. He compared student achievement in language, math and physics of 15-year-old children in 15 Western countries. Much to his surprise, students’ grades were inversely proportional to ethnic diversity.

“I interpret lower student achievement at ethnically diverse schools to mean that a great deal of energy is spent on bridging the various cultural gaps between students. As a result, teachers are unable to focus on teaching. They keep hopping from one culture to the next. It uses up time and energy not spent on teaching.”

No data were available for the Netherlands, but Professor Dronkers believes his findings are also applicable to this country as education in surrounding countries like Denmark, Belgium and Germany is in his opinion comparable to the Netherlands.

The ethnic make-up of Dutch schools is a highly sensitive issue. The existence of separate ‘black’ and ‘white’ schools is generally regarded as undesirable. However, as long as the segregation leads to a homogenous student body, the effects are not necessarily negative. On the contrary, a ‘black’ school where 80 percent of the children were of Turkish descent outperformed a school of much greater ethnic diversity.

Another noteworthy finding from his research are the generally below-average achievements of students with an Islamic background.

“This cannot be explained by their socio-economic backgrounds or the characteristics of schools or educational systems. So what is the reason? It is very well possible that they are being discriminated against, but this also holds true for non-Islamic children. People will say: they are the children of migrant workers, but so were the Italians. The remaining factor is religion.”

Poor families
Not everybody agrees with Professor Dronkers’ conclusions. Dutch writer and educational expert Anja Vink says the professor places too much emphasis on culture and religion. She argues that socio-economical circumstances are widely accepted as determining factors for the educational achievement of children.

“We are focussing on colour, culture and religion, but what is being left out is that these children are from poor families. This could also apply to poor native children. If you attend a ‘white trash school’ you would get the same results. You will see this in the provinces of Friesland, Groningen en Limburg.”

Highly educated parents
Ms Vink, who wrote a book on black schools in the Netherlands, says that the conclusion that Islamic students are falling behind also merits further explanation.

“This may be true of Moroccan and Turkish children, but children of Afghan, Iranian and Iraqi descent often do better in school than even some native children. The explanation lies in the fact that they are children of highly-educated parents.”

Professor Dronkers agrees that ethnic diversity can have a positive effect on children of highly educated parents. “In that case there is an added value.” The scientist says that migrant children from non-Islamic countries like China, South Korea and India are also a positive exception to the rule.

Migrants 'make Germany dumb' says central banker in astonishing outburst

Vot is das? Some German Herr is actually taking his life in his hands and suggesting that Third-World immigration is dumbing-down Germany! Say it isn't true. And the author of the article states that Mr Sarrazin hasn't apologised yet! Hey dumb-dumb - why should he apologise for stating the bleeding obvious? Let's see how long he holds onto his job and when he'll issue the mandatory "I wasn't thinking" apology. Until then I love this guy...

Thilo Sarrazin

Immigrants are making Germany 'dumber', according to a board member of the country's central bank.

Thilo Sarrazin claimed the 'limited education' of immigrants - coupled with their high birth rate - meant Germans 'are becoming dumber in a simple way'.

He said: 'There's a difference in the reproduction of population groups with varying intelligence.'

It is not the first time the 65-year-old member of the Bundesbank has caused controversy since he joined last year.

In October he described Muslim children as 'underclass' citizens.

'I don't have to accept someone who lives off a state they reject, doesn't properly take care of the education of his children-and keeps producing more little girls in headscarves,' Mr Sarrazin said.

'That goes for 70 percent of the Turkish and 90 percent of the Arabic population of Berlin.' He added that they were not fit for much other than 'fruit and vegetable selling'.

In his latest speech this week he said there were 'ample statistics' proving he was correct about German intelligence.

He went on to say that in particular immigrants from 'Turkey, the Middle East and Africa' were less educated.

Because immigrants tend to have more children than Germans - who have the lowest birth rate in Europe - this caused 'a different propagation of population groups with different intelligence because parents pass their intelligence on to their children'.

Mr Sarrazin, who was previously Germany's finance minister, has not yet apologised. It is thought his position at the Bundesbank may now be untenable.

A spokesman for a Muslim group in Berlin said: 'He is a tired old white Christian male full of prejudice and few ideas.'

But among conservatives in Germany his comments have struck a chord.

They have voiced concern that the country's three million Turks tend to live in their own communities, socialise among each other and have little in common with their German neighbours.

Belgium divide deepens after Flemish separatists win election

Belgium is divided into 2 regions - Flanders (Dutch) and Wallonia (French). The Flanders region is Conservative, free-trading and successful; whereas the Wallonia region is Socialist, subsidised by their Dutch tax-payers, and corrupt (you don't say?). The obvious solution is independence and this is a wake-up call to whoever will be making up the government. Afrikaans speaking South Africans should consider the Flanders region as an option as Flemish is very close to the Afrikaans language...

A rightwing separatist party that wants independence for the Dutch-speaking region of northern Belgium has won a shock victory in the country's general election.

The New Flemish Alliance (NVA) is on course to become the largest party in parliament – the first time in Belgium's 180-year history that a Flemish nationalist party has gained more seats than the traditional federalist parties.

Early results suggest the NVA scored a record 29% of the vote in Dutch-speaking Flanders, while the French-speaking Socialists got the largest share of the vote – 36% – in Wallonia which has fewer voters.

Talks underway today on forming a coalition are likely to force the NVA to tone down its nationalist rhetoric but the party's victory could lead to greater autonomy for Dutch and French speaking regions. King Albert, as head of state, was holding one-on-one meetings with political leaders.

As many as eight parties could make up the new government. In 2007, those talks lasted more than six months.

There are fears that protracted negotiations and the formation of a potentially unstable, high-spending coalition could upset the markets. The country's ratio of debt to gross domestic product is behind only Greece and Italy in the eurozone.

Belgium is also preparing to take over the presidency of the European Union in July.

Divisions between the 6.5 million Dutch speakers in Flanders and the 4 million French speakers in Wallonia in the poorer south of the country have caused decades of disputes which permeate every aspect of Belgian society: there are separate language sections of almost every organisation from Scouts and charities, such as the Red Cross, to national political parties.

The NVA's victory on Sunday, winning 27 seats in the 150-member assembly, up 19 from the 2007 elections, was a shock to the Belgian political world.

Voters rejected prime minister Yves Leterme's outgoing coalition of Christian Democrats, Liberals and Socialists – each split into French and Dutch speaking sections – whose three years in power were marked by linguistic spats that remained unresolved.

The election outcome was seen as a warning to French-speaking politicians to negotiate seriously about granting Dutch and French-speakers more self-rule, or Dutch-speaking Flanders would seek independence.

The Francophone daily Le Soir said "Flanders has chosen a new king", referring to Bart de Wever, 39, the NVA leader and a potential new Belgian prime minister, who urged "Francophones to make (a country) that works".

De Wever seeks an orderly breakup of Belgium. His party accuses French-speaking Wallonia of poor governance that has raised the unemployment rate to double that of Flanders. In Wallonia the Socialists, traditionally a dominant force in the south, did well – winning 26 seats, up six from 2007.

Party leader, Elio di Rupo, another candidate to be prime minister, said: "Many Flemish people want the country's institutions reformed. We need to listen to that."

Flanders and Wallonia already have autonomy in urban development, environment, agriculture, employment, energy, culture, sports and other areas.

Flemish parties demand that justice, health and social security are added to that, but Walloon politicians fear ending social security as a federal responsibility will mark the end of Belgium.

The divide goes beyond language. Flanders is conservative and free-trade minded. Wallonia's long-dominant Socialists have a record of corruption and poor governance. Flanders has half the unemployment of Wallonia and a 25% higher per-capita income, and its politicians say they are tired of subsidising their French-speaking neighbours.

As governments worldwide tried to tame a financial crisis and recession, the four parties that led Belgium since 2007 struggled with linguistic spats, most notably over a bilingual voting district comprising the capital, Brussels, and 35 Flemish towns bordering it.

The high court ruled it illegal in 2003 because Dutch is the only official language in Flanders. Over the years, Francophones from Brussels have moved in large numbers to the city's leafy Flemish suburbs, where they are accused of refusing to learn Dutch and integrate.
